The Plague Summary. From the title, you know this book is about a plague. This particular plague happens in a Algerian port town called Oran in the s. The story is narrated to us by an odd, nameless narrator strangely obsessed with objectivity, who tends to focus on a man named Dr. Bernard Rieux. The mess starts when rats everywhere die.   Plague is caused by the bacteria Yersinia pestis. Rodents, such as rats, carry the disease. It is spread by their fleas. People can get plague when they are bitten by a flea that carries the plague bacteria from an infected rodent. In rare cases, people get the disease when handling an infected animal. Plague lung infection is called pneumonic.

Plague, infectious disease caused by Yersinia pestis, a bacterium transmitted from rodents to humans by the bite of infected fleas. Plague has caused some of the most-devastating epidemics in history.

It was the disease behind the Black Death of the 14th century, when as much as one-third of Europe’s population died.

The pneumonia may cause respiratory failure and shock. Pneumonic plague is the most serious form of the disease and is the only form of plague that can be spread from person to person (by infectious droplets). Plague is a serious illness. If you are experiencing symptoms like those listed here, seek immediate medical attention.

Rieux notes his sense of humor, his love of swimming, and his fondness for the company of dancers and musicians. More important, he is a questioner and a self-examiner. He wonders about wasting time, for example, and his present answer is "by being fully aware of.

The Plague is a novel about a plague epidemic in the large Algerian city of Oran. In April, thousands of rats stagger into the open and die. In April, thousands of rats stagger into the open and die.

When a mild hysteria grips the population, the newspapers begin clamoring for action. Dogs and cats may also bring plague-infected fleas into the home.

Flea bite exposure may result in primary bubonic plague or septicemic plague. Contact with contaminated fluid or tissue.

Humans can become infected when handling tissue or body fluids of a plague-infected animal. For example, a hunter skinning a rabbit or other infected animal.

At the end of his narration, Dr. Rieux states his various purposes for writing the account, among them that we may conclude "there are more things to admire in men than to despise." Does he achieve this end. Does The Plague attempt to argue for the goodness of man, or is this statement intentionally ironic.

Part 5. Abstraction When the people return to Oran, it is clear that there will be some happiness for those who are reunited with their loved ones. The next day Dr. Rieux’s mother comes to stay with him to look after the house while his wife is away.

She is a calming presence for him, but Rieux is still concerned about the rats. He calls Mercier, the man in charge of pest control for the city. Directed by Ed Hunt. With Daniel Pilon, Kate Reid, Céline Lomez, Michael J. Reynolds. An ambitious lab assistant carries out a forbidden experiment and accidentally creates a deadly bacteria which kills her and rapidly engulfs the city.

The authorities order a curtain of secrecy and impose quarantine on all known contacts whilst embarking on a desperate search. David is directed by Gad, a prophet of the Lord, to build an altar unto the Lord, that the plague might be stayed from the people. It was not by David's tears of penitence and confession of sin that the plague was stayed. In like manner, not our tears or prayers or confessions, but the blood of Christ shed for us, furnishes the only ground for.

In the case of the plague, that would mean completely eradicating the animals that carry the plague, Tosh notes. And the plague is not. A summary of Part X (Section8) in Albert Camus's The Plague.

It is, in a sense, as fresh a start as Jeanne made years ago. And Grand's story has its effect on Rieux.
